HTC Hero

Hundreds of Orange customers who own the HTC Hero have created a Facebook campaign calling for the network to distribute an update to bring Android 2.1 to the popular smartphone.

The group has already attracted over 300 members and more than anything, its members are interested in hearing whether Orange has any Android 2.1-related announcements for its Hero-owning users.

Other networks have released an Android 2.1 update for the Hero, but Orange is lagging behind the competition in this respect.

Geoffrey Mansfield, who founded the lobby group, called for Orange to be upfront with its customers, who are still waiting for the update weeks after some other Hero users got theirs.

He said: "Orange UK Customer Service department will not give any definitive answers to questions posed by numerous customers on various Android forums.

"Please use this group to register your disapproval and I will forward the group link to Orange UK, for consideration."

In an official statement given to Pocket-Lint.com, Orange apologised to its customers and pledged that it will make the update available as soon as it can.

Look this is doubly complicated by the fact that a) it's got an Orange custom skin b) it's got Sense too. Of course, it was going to be delayed. But lissen peeps: you're going to get your update. It's just going to take a while.

Whatever Marionation. You've obviously got a newer Android phone or have already got your update. If you were still waiting after all this time, you'd be angry too. If companies can't deliver, they shouldn't have put custom skins on in the first place.
