Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC is said to be developing the upcoming Mozart and Mondrian mobile phones with the new Windows Phone 7 platform onboard.

Keen observers have scoured the XML data contained within available HTC specifications and it has emerged that the web browser that both smartphones will use is the native Microsoft Internet Explorer Mobile 7 that comes with Windows Phone 7.

Details as to the hardware of the two smartphones are sparse, but it is believed that both will be touchscreen only and will offer Bluetooth connectivity.

The Mondrian was previously the source of speculation which suggested a 4.3 inch screen would be coupled with a 1.3GHz processor from Qualcomm.

It is also rumoured to have a five megapixel camera that can shoot high definition video, although nothing has been confirmed by official outlets.

HTC looks set to launch several smartphones based on the Windows Phone 7 platform in the run up to Christmas, with the HTC Gold pencilled in for a November arrival, according to WM Power User.

Many were concerned that HTC had completely switched its focus over to Google's Android platform, but the firm has clearly been waiting for the Windows Phone 7 platform to reach release readiness before reasserting its commitment to Microsoft.
