iPhone 4 owners can add a dash of colour to their high-end handsets and perhaps even tackle reception issues, thanks to a US phone customisation specialists Colorware.

The send-away service allows iPhone 4 users to colour customise everything from the microSIM card tray to the back plate for a charge of £164.

Perhaps more appealing, though, is that a session with Colorware could massively improve the reception problems being reported by iFans across the globe, it is being speculated.

Suggestions that it could be the fix people have been waiting for stem from mock-up pictures that appear to show that the gaps on the rim-mounted antenna system have been filled in.

However, Colorware has notably yet to back up this speculation.

Apple smartphone fans who send their mobile away for a cosmetic revamp can expect to have it returned within three weeks.

It's not about filling the gaps. May work if it creates a layer between the metal and the skin though
