Nokia has confirmed that the 6700 Classic will be getting an update that will allow it to run the navigation software which offers free turn-by-turn navigation and voice-guided instructions.

It had originally been assumed that the Nokia mobiles runnng the Symbian S40 platform, of which the 6700 Classic is one, would never get access to the advanced navigation app, but this is clearly not the case.

The update brings with it augmentations to the 6700 Classic's photography software, Bluetooth connectivity and menu system. Further tweaks to the software mean that the 6700 Classic runs smoother and faster than ever before.

The 6700 Classic arrived on the market over a year ago and although the Symbian S40 software is not in line with Nokia's high end smartphones, this particular option stood out as it offered HSDPA networking capabilities and a five megapixel camera, along with the all-important GPS capabilities.

Nokia 6700 Classic users on an Orange contract will unfortunately be unable to access the update, but everyone else can download the software immediately from Nokia's official site.

Why can't Orange customers use it? Is there a way to install the new version even with Orange?
