A new release of the iOS 4 platform will help to remedy performance issues that are being experienced by owners of the iPhone 3G who have upgraded to Apple's latest software, the company has promised.

Apple acknowledged problems associated with using an iPhone 3G with iOS 4 back in July and Steve Jobs has now given further details as to the solution.

Mr Jobs responded to a customer email complaining that the iPhone 3G had become "dog slow" after the iOS 4 update and said that downgrading back to an earlier version was only an option for people willing to jailbreak their mobiles.

"Software updates coming soon," was the typically brisk reply from Mr Jobs, suggesting that iOS 4.1 will be launched in the near future.

This comprehensive update for the platform has been in development for some time and it will apparently adress a range of problems with iOS 4, according to MacRumours.
