Mobile users can get the first taste of the portable edition of Stumbleupon via a new application, which has been produced for both the iPhone and Google's Android platform.

Stumbleupon has long been a popular browser-based web rating tool which allows web users to rank and review websites and thus to make new discoveries based on the suggestions of others.

You can check out a list of the best mobile friendly sites as chosen by Stumbleupon users, covering everything from YouTube videos to images, all of which are, of course, easy to view on the scaled down display of your mobile phone.

As with the full browser-based desktop edition, the mobile version of Stumbleupon allows you to select key topics which you find interesting, with sites relating to these topics subsequently delivered at random to your mobile phone to help open up previously unknown areas of the internet.

The Stumbleupon app is available to download now from the Android Market and the Apple App Store.
