A Sky Sports News app for the iPhone and iPad has landed and is free to download now from the App Store.
The application combines text reports with audio and video clips and live broadcasts. Major sports including Football and Rugby have their own dedicated categories within the app, with users given the option to modify the type of news that is delivered to the app's main page in line with their own sporting preferences.
Only those with a Sky Mobile TV account will be able to watch a live feed of the Sky Sports News channel in real time, but there is also plenty of multimedia content available free of charge.
The Sky Sports News app will not be alone in the market for long, as the BBC is preparing its own sports news app for launch on Apple's smartphone platform.
