Web searches on Android phones could be about to get a lot faster, with the news that Google Instant is making the transfer from desktop computers and lappys to mobile devices.
The just-launched feature aims to make conducting searches faster by displaying results as you type.
According to Pocket-lint a mobile version was “briefly demoed” at a press conference in San Francisco, although a release date is reputed to be in the far-flung future.
Marissa Mayer, Vice President of Search Products and User Experience at Google, stated: “Instant takes what you have typed already, predicts the most likely completion and streams results in real-time for those predictions - yielding a smarter and faster search that is interactive, predictive and powerful.”
Instant is especially suited to mobiles, since it promises to dramatically cut the number of keystrokes required for a search.
However, right now it’s not clear to see how they’ll make the experience work on touchscreen mobiles, especially those with limited display real estate.
