Problems experienced by HTC Desire owners on 3 who updated their phones to run the latest version of Android, AKA Froyo, are being replicated on other networks, 3 has claimed.
Last week, Desire owners with 3 who downloaded Froyo found that they subsequently had problems accessing the Android Market. The glitch, which was reportedly a Google issue rather than anything related to 3, prompted HTC to withdraw the update.
According to Johanna Whitaker 3’s Social Media Producer, the problem is not exclusive to 3 and is being replicated on Android phone updates on other UK carriers, meaning that millions more users can expect to experience issues with the Android Market.
She said: “It's a Google Android issue, so updates across the board have been affected.
“HTC have put the update on hold for the time being though whilst they work with Google on a fix. We're just waiting to hear when the fixed update will be sent.”
3 has advised customers affected to reset their handsets to factory settings to address the matter, ensuring they back up their data beforehand to avoid losing it.
