Research in Motion (RIM) has officially unveiled the new BlackBerry Style 9670 messaging smartphone, teaming the brand’s time-honoured email functionality with a new clamshell form factor.
Running OS 6, the new operating system for BlackBerrys, the flipout phone features a full, physical QWERTY keyboard for easy text entry and the optical trackpad that’s familiar from earlier RIM handsets.
It’s also home to a five-megapixel snapper with a flash and video recording, expandable memory of up to 32GB, plus GPS support and the usual connectivity options.
RIM has yet to confirm a UK release for the handset, but it’s due to go on sale in the US on October 31st.
Also incoming from the business phone maker is RIM’s debut tablet, the much-anticipated iPad challenger, the Playbook.
Due to arrive “before summer 2010”, the slate offers a 1GHz dual-core Coretex A9 processor, an expansive seven-inch touchscreen and dual HD cameras.
