A smart-looking Nokia concept phone running the Meego operating system has surfaced online, offering fans a glimpse of what the Finns’ future phones could offer in years to come.

The Aura, which is the work of Esa Jaakola, is a sleek smartie with advanced imaging capabilities. And with its full touchscreen UI, handsome looking screen, aluminium shell, and rich feature set, it sure looks a darn sight sexier than some other Nokia efforts we could mention.

As well as running the Meego OS, which Nokia hopes can help it reassert itself in the ever-more competitive high-end smartphone market, the Aura packs a 12-megapixel camera with Xenon flash and an expansive four-inch touchscreen.

It’s also home to dedicated camera buttons, a 3.5mm headphone jack and an HDMI port, Electric Pig reports.

Meego, which has hitherto been restricted to Nokia’s Internet tablets, is expected to debut on the next NSeries smartphone, the N9.

Latterly, the company’s Symbian platform has come in for heavy criticism for being less user friendly than rival operating systems.
