3 will push out Android 2.2, AKA Froyo, to the HTC Wildfire on Monday, the carrier’s press people have told Top10.com, bringing a host of awesome new features to the handset.

Among the new functions that the system update adds to the Wildfire is tethering, whereby your handset becomes a de facto Wi-Fi mobile broadband hotspot that produces a 3G connection can be shared by up to five mobile internet enabled devices simultaneously.

Also likely to be added is video recording at 720p, the option to install apps to microSD card, improved battery life and general performance optimisations for an altogether slicker smartphone experience.

Available on a huge range of contract plans, the Wildfire packs a five-megapixel snapper with LED flash and smile detection technology, a 3.1-inch touchscreen and A-GPS support for sat-nav-style route finding.

Choose the Wildfire and you’ll also get some great pre-installed Google apps as well as tens of thousands of titles to choose from the Android Market.

monday of the week is dated 31st JAN 2011, which means today. Is the update really comming today? I will be very much excited when it comes. The only lack of features that frustate me in wildfire are PLAYING GRAPHIC INTENSIVE GAMES (due to small screen res.,), OPTIMAL VIDEO RECORDING and PLAYING HIGH RESOLUTION VIDEOS (greater than 320*240) .

Hope they will be fixed with this most awaited update. WILDFIRE will be the rocking phone after this update. And it becomes the customers most preferrable phone. Is the screen resolution going to improve with this update?

So... Erm... where is it... I've been looking forward to this for a month now. Not quite sure why but I love my tech stuff and I think this is just another Fix.

Will 2.2 allow me to use live wallpaper on my phone? I don't think anyone really knows what all the benefits are going to be. It would be nice to have a list per phone.

Let's await the excuses. That is of course assuming that Three bother to keep us updated about another delay. I'm really looking forward to it, but I'm not too confident to be honest.

is this update available to wildfire brought with 3 network users only. or will it be available to each and every htc wildfire phone in the world. pls clear my doubt.

pls tell me when this update comes to INDIA. i.e to (wildfire gsm phones purchased in india)
anyone who updated it pls add a note here regarding the new features added.

the features i expect from it are:

1.HD VIDEO RECORDING @ 720p (my first priority)
2.playing high resolution videos (greater than 320*240)
3.playing graphic intensive games (which limit by the screen resol.,)
4.option to install apps in sd card (not to be confused with moving apps to sd card, which is already present in froyo)

of the above features, pls tell me which ones are added in this update. anyone reply plssss

Mmmmmm.... No live wallpaper then!! Never mind. I've only messed around with it for 10 minutes so I've got to get into it but thus far, I don't notice any difference. Bit of an anti climax as, if I'm honest, expected.

When I first went on 'Market' the home screen had changed and looked a lot more user friendly which I thought was cool but 5 minutes later when I went on it, it looked like the 2.1 version. Not sure if this is right.

It's quite a lengthily process so I'd strongly recommend you have power connected and a good wifi signal. Took about 20 minutes all in all. At one point I thought it had locked but be patient.

All in all an update install is always recommended so you're phone has it's earpiece on the pulse but if you're not worried/bothered about that then I'd stay with 2.1.

    Cheers
