Samsung Infuse 4G

Samsung has announced that it will be bringing to market what it claims is the world’s slimmest Android smartphone yet, the Infuse 4G, measuring just 9mm in thickness.

The slender smartie, confirmed only for AT&T stateside for now, houses a ginormous 4.5-inch Super AMOLED ‘Plus’ panel, and crams in twice as many pixels as the Galaxy S and allows for an even more vibrant display outdoors.

It also sports a speedy 1.2GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor to keep things ticking over smoothly. Although the handset will launch with Android 2.2 (Froyo) onboard, an upgrade to Gingerbread will shortly follow to take full advantage of the eight-megapixel snapper, with 720p HD video recording credentials as well as video-calling support for the1.3-megapixel front-facing VGA.

Of course, as the name suggests, the Infuse will be also capable of running on the next-generation mobile network. Unfortunately the UK has yet to adopt 4G in the same scale as the US so it’s not certain whether the handset will be making its way to these shores just yet. But we can at least look forward to a rebranded model, sans the 4G equipment.

Stay tuned as we find out more about Samsung’s plans in the coming days.

"the handset will launch with Android 2.2 (Froyo) onboard, an upgrade to Gingerbread will shortly follow" - I was told that the Vibrant (which is an US Galaxy S series phone) would get the 2.2 upgrade in a few months. This was told to be by a Samsung rep before I purchased my Samsung Vibrant back on July 07th. My Vibrant STILL HAS NOT GOTTEN THE UPGRADE!!!

Samsung has many MANY empty promises to help sales, but NEVER follow through!

Funny they said they would update the behold and vibrant too. Samsdung is not to be trusted. To bad you can't get their display and processor in an htc product with a working gps and decent software.

It's not actually 4g. At&t are to embarrassed to admit that they are just rolling out 3.5g when the rest of the world is starting to roll out 4g. So they have named their 3.5g network 4g. To con consumers into thinking they are upto date.

Samsung are pretty good with their updates. The galaxy s started on 2.1 and has had 2.2 and 2.2.1 updates already with 2.3 in the pipeline
