T-Mobile is pushing out Android 2.1 to the Pulse, giving the ageing handset a much-needed bump to a newer version of Google’s operating system.
Available to download now, the Éclair iteration of Android brings some smart new features to the Pulse. These include extra homescreens, live wallpapers and a new app launcher.
Owners can also look forward to new widgets, voice typing for all text fields and a smart-looking 3D photo gallery.
Until now, Pulse users have been stuck on the positively archaic 1.5 version of Android, AKA Donut, that featured on the first-ever Android phone to hit these shores, the T-Mobile G1.
As is always the case when installing an update, it’s imperative that you’ve got a fully charged battery and that you back up your data first – just in case something goes awry.
The size of the update also means that it’s a good idea to install it over a WiFi connection rather than 3G.
