Vodafone has confirmed that it will be the first network to carry Nokia’s upcoming E7 smartphone when it finally hits the UK.

The Big V’s product page is currently showing an ambiguous but very welcome ‘coming soon’ release date for the E7 only days after we reported an April 12th launch for the much sought-after business smartie.

The E7 was announced way back at the Nokia World expo in September last year and was expected to ship last month, but has been pushed back due to as yet unknown reasons. It comes with a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a four-inch ‘ClearBlack’ AMOLED panel with a hinge mechanism for a 45 degree incline, allowing the phone to be used hands-free while video conferencing and whatnot.

It is also home to a none-too-shabby eight-megapixel snapper with dual LED flash, geo tagging, face recognition and HD video recording, to boot.

On the software side, the E7 runs on the same Symbian^3 operating system as the N8 but packs a few additional business focussed goodies too including QuickOffice suite, Mail for Exchange support and Ovi suite integration for synchronising important information.

Despite being rather bland looking, the E7 is quietly generating hype in corporate circles due to its powerful specs and could yet put Nokia back in contention with the likes of BlackBerry.

i think the E7 doesn't look bland at all. I'm a city worker and am tired of BlackBerrys everywhere that frankly all look the same. The E7 has some nice multimedia specs for a "business phone". I'll be picking this up.

I have an old rapidily failing E90 & have been waiting for the E7 replacement since LAST SEPTEMBER! Doesn't Nokia EVER learn?

Not sure I'll go this route now MEEGO may be anounced on April 12th London. As of April 9th, Vodafone Business still say they have no firm E7 availabilty date - what a shambles!!!
