O2 has begun pushing out a Symbian software update to Nokia N8 owners, the carrier has announced, bringing a selection of spanking new features to the NSeries smartie.
Chief among the sweeteners that the OS bump delivers is a revamped Ovi Store. There’s also a much improved Quick Office, which replaces the viewer-only iteration with the full version, meaning you’ll now be able to create and edit new files and zoom functionality on documents.
Additionally, Nokia promises us a better social networking experience and calendar, as well as performance enhancements to make the much-maligned N8 run faster.

The arrival of the update comes in the wake of persistent and severe criticism of the N8 and the Symbian^3 operating system’s user friendliness.
Since then, of course, Nokia has confirmed it’ll be jumping on board with the considerably less complex, tile-based Windows Phone 7 platform, in a bid to arrest a fall in its market share.
The first WP7 powered Nokia phone is expected before the end of the year.
