Dell’s first Windows Phone 7 smartphone, the Venue Pro, has at long last gone on sale in the UK with a wallet-busting price tag of £459.
Announced way back last year, the Venue Pro was originally due to hit store shelves in January but vanished off the radar amid a flood smartphones announced at the Consumer Electronics Show and the Mobile World Congress.
It’s the first Windows Phone 7 smartphone so far to boast a full QWERTY keyboard and is currently only available to purchase unlocked directly from the Dell website.
Aongus Hegarty, VP of Dell’s consumer, small and medium businesses wing in Europe, said: “No matter your requirements, the Dell Venue Pro with Windows Phone 7 brings a fresh approach of doing more with less.
“The Venue Pro truly mixes business with pleasure and is the perfect phone for those who appreciate the work/life balance.”
Standout features of the Venue Pro include a healthily sized 4.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen panel, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm, which is paired with 512MB of RAM and 1GB Flash memory and a built-in, a la non-removable, 16GB SD card for storage.
Alas, it’s still unknown when, if at all, the Venue Pro will be available on contract for those looking to avoid the hefty one-off cost, but we’ll be sure to let you know the soonest we find out.
