Sony Ericsson (SE) is already prepping a successor to the soon to land Xperia Arc, reports suggest.

Clocked on SE’s PC companion software tool for Japanese users, the Acro reportedly features much the same feature set as the Arc. Think: 8.1-megapixel snapper with an Exmor R lens, a 4.2-inch screen, a 1GHz processor and Android 2.3 out of the box.

However, it’s distinguished from its predecessor by the addition of Near Field Communications (NFC) support for Oysteresque contactless payments, a TV Tuner and an infrared port.

It’s not clear whether the phone will make an appearance outside Japan, although the fact that the feature set appears to be tailored specifically for our Nippon buddies suggests otherwise.

In other SE news, the contract free edition of the camera-focussed Xperia Neo is set to make its debut in the UK later this month. According to Android Community, e-tailer Clove will be offering the phone from April 19th for a far from bank-breaking £299.
