Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for HTC Desire HD & Desire delayed on Three

HTC Desire and Desire HD owners on Three won’t be getting the scheduled OS bump to Android 2.3 this month, it has been confirmed, after bugs and prolonged compatibility issues apparently delayed the rollout.

Three had originally planned to push out the upgrade to Gingerbread, which brings with it features such as a revamped virtual keyboard and improved copy and paste, to Desire Android handsets before the end of May.

However, a Tweet from the network has since notified users that “HTC hasn’t been able to meet the late May timings that were set” and that as a result they’ll be no update today.

Three’s Twitter team also makes reference to “some bugs” that have impacted on the platform upgrade and pledges that it’ll inform users of further developments soon.

Previous communiqués from Three had also indicated that Android 2.3 would be ready to rollout to Samsung Galaxy S by the end of the month.

It’s not yet clear whether Three is pressing ahead with the update for Sammy's best-seller or if that too has been temporarily postponed.

It's frustrating. But I'd rather wait a bit longer than get one that bricked my phone, like some networks I could mention.

Is it so important that u get this facility at the earliest? is someone going to die if he doesn't get the update? do u know there must be people working day, night and overtime in offices, neglecting their health and families, to roll out this update. what's the meaning of this ON TIME. if it was about making an artificial heart ON TIME, one would have grasped the urgency. and if u knew the meaning of the latest Oxfam report on the impending food crisis, people wouldn't be showing this unnecessary haste for an update.
