Sony Ericsson Android Cybershot phone spotted?

Sony Ericsson is reportedly prepping its first-ever Cybershot-branded Android phone, a leaked snap suggests, as the handset-maker looks to build on the success of its Xperia range.

Sourced by the very unofficial Xperia blog, images of the mystery touchscreen handset clearly show the Cybershot logo nestling at the foot of the display.

Alas, the fact that the device is turned off in all the image means it’s hard to discern for certain what OS it’ll run. However, the three buttons (return, home and back) front and centre at the bottom closely resemble those of an Xperia phone – suggesting very strongly that it’ll run Android.

Prior the Android boom, Cybershot had been one of Sony Ericsson’s most popular lines, so it’d make sense to leverage that consumer goodwill for a new handset.

Specs are anyone’s guess right now. But the camera-focus of a Cybershot phone means it’d have to pack a snapper of eight or nine megapixels or more to merit the title.

It’s also likely to feature the same Exmor R sensor as the Xperia Arc and Sony’s current crop of compact cameras.
