High street vendor Phones4u has announced that HTC’s keenly priced ChaCha smartie is now available to order on contracts starting £20 per month.

If you didn’t feel the first Facebook branded kit from the House of HTC with a front-facing keyboard was already worth the plunge at £249.99 SIM free, maybe the prospect of picking it up free of charge with a two-year contract with Vodafone from £20 per month will tempt you.

In return for the monthly outlay you’ll be entitled to 100 minutes of call time and 500 texts. If you pay £5 more, with either Vodafone or Orange, you’ll also receive 500MB of data allowance. However, Big V has sweetened the deal a bit further with a £50 automatic cashback after 30 days of penning the contract.

Scott Hooton, trading director at Phones4u said: “What with 93 per cent of our customers admitting to having a Facebook account, it’s clear that social networking is no longer just something people do in their spare time – it’s an integral part of their lives.

“We know our customers are going to be thrilled about the HTC ChaCha’s arrival at Phones 4u, and we’re excited to be offering them a smartphone catered to their needs and what they enjoy doing most.”

Facebook powered

The ChaCha is one of two handsets from HTC – the other being the Salsa - with a dedicated Facebook button that allows faster access to the social network’s key services. As a result, both HTC and Phone4U hope this will appeal to the young demographic.

“We’re confident the HTC ChaCha’s going to be a huge hit with our youth audience”, Hooton added.

Key features of the ChaCha includes a 2.6-inch touch-screen display, a full QWERTY keyboard, a rear-mounted five-megapixel camera and a front-facing VGA for video calls and best of all, Android 2.4 – AKA Gingerbread – installed out of the box.
