Orange has announced a new contract deal that allows customers to bag both an iPhone 4 and an iPad 2 on a single contract for £65 per month.
Getting your mitts on an iPhone 4, even a year after its release can be a pricey proposition for most people, making it even more difficult to snap up the newly launched iPad 2 for some large screen action.
Luckily, the clever elves at Orange have come up with a new ‘Connected’ plan designed to tempt cash-strapped punters to own both iDevices for a shared two-year contract.
The tariff, costing £65 a month with an £99 initial upfront fee, will entitle takers to a 16GB iPhone 4 and 16GB iPad 2 3G model, with 2GB of shared monthly data allowance between the devices, unlimited access to BT Openzone Wi-Fi hotspots, and 600 minutes call-time and unlimited texts.
The price point applies solely for existing customers. If you’re a new Orange customer, however, you’ll have to shell out an extra £50.
Is it really cheaper?
The total cost of the cheapest plan works out to £1659, which is actually a quid more than getting the iPhone 4 seperately for £35 per month on an 18-month contract and the iPad 2 for £25 a month on a two-year contract, meaning you could upgrade your phone sooner.
However, the Connected plan comes with unlimited texts and a larger data plan, compared with just 500mb data and 500 texts for getting the iPhone 4 separately, which, combined under the same bill, should make it an attractive offer for those who want more data allowance on their phone and fewer bills to deal with.
