Orange Monte Carlo

Orange is set to release yet another branded handset powered by the Android operating system – the Monte Carlo.

Named after the popular tourist district of Monaco, the Monte Carlo is essentially the UK edition of the ZTE Skate and the long awaited successor to the well received Orange San Francisco.

And with a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen, a five-megapixel camera and Android 2.3 – aka Gingerbread – on board, it looks to be worth the wait, too. This is particularly impressive considering the ZTE Skate is already confirmed to cost no more than €200 (around £180), making the Monte Carlo a potential bargain for what it offers.

Other features include a none-too-shabby 800MHz processor with 500MB of RAM, plus HD calls on Orange’s network, Wi-Fi, FM radio and a microUSB port to name a few.

Right now, Orange’s website lists the handset as ‘coming soon’ and it looks like it’ll only be available on Pay as you go. For this kind of price point, you can hardly complain.

If it's £180 i might get one just as a backup phone. Makes you wonder why there's so much delay and 'technical difficulty' in getting Gingerbread to more powerful handsets when this has it installed out of the box!

The Orange website states that the "Monte Carlo" has:-

The Orange App Store and Supports Orange Maps.

Does this meen yet another Android phone that's useless for Google Maps, Earth & Sky Map etc. ?

Does this meen it cant be used with the "Official" Android Marketplace ?

And no mention if it will have "Full" Flash Compatibility.

Hope it's not going to be the same in these repects like the San Francisco was.

Just Wish Orange would give full detailed spec for the're phones !

    As for Price, I've seen everything from £139 + £10 Top-up to £190 so who knows !

it would save all the flim-flam and rumours and false claims by so say people in the know.

Well that's the rant over... but something to think about !

Monaco is not in France. Monaco is an independent country, surrounded by France and the Mediterranean Sea.

@Daniel AJ, Apologies for that mistake. This has now been corrected. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
