Samsung has denied that it is currently at any level of talks with Apple to reconcile an ongoing legal dispute over the two companies allegedly copying each other’s products.

Last week, Apple’s lawyer Harold McElhinny, claimed that high-level executives from both firms were “meeting and talking” to settle their differences in a legal tug-of-war that all started when Apple accused Samsung of ripping off the design and technology of its iProducts and incoroporating these into the Galaxy range of devices.

Apple vs Samsung

However, a Samsung spokesperson has denied the reports, stating: “We are unaware of any meetings or discussions between the two sides over this matter”.

Last week, Judge Lucy Koh, who is hearing the case, urged the rivals to “just get along”, and even went onto to offer a ‘box of chocolates’ to speed up the peace process.

But her request seems to have fallen on deaf ears if Samsung has indeed not sat down with Apple for negotiations.

Whether or not such talks are taking place covertly, away from even Sammy’s own PR, is debatable. However, in this case, we think it's more likely that Apple’s lawyer may have been misinformed.

Sadly for Samsung, its motion for Apple to hand over prototypes of the iPhone 5 and iPad 3 has been rejected.

According to FOSS Patents, “the judge made a lot of effort in her 11-page order to explain that Samsung is entitled to “parity” but its motion was overreaching in this case”.

Samsung is currently considering its next course of action.
