O2 has cut the asking price for the HTC Desire S – but only if you’re quick off the mark.

As part of the carrier’s latest limited-period flash sale, customers can pick up the Desire S for free when they sign up to a £16.50 per month contract.

The online-only offer, which runs until September 5th, also entitles takers to 50 anytime, any-network call minutes, 250 texts and 500MB of data per month

HTC’s successor to the original Desire handset features a 3.7-inch touchscreen, a five-megapixel camera with HD video recording, a secondary front facing snapper for video calls and one-touch, easy access to all your social network streams.

It also packs the latest 2.3.4 Gingerbread version of Android out of box with HTC’s Sense bespoke user interface over the top, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor pre-installed Google applications such as Gmail and Facebook and a choice of tens of thousands more to download from the Android Market.
