Motorola has showcased a new mid-range smartie packing the latest version of Google’s Android operating system for what ought to be a wallet-friendly price.
Powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread with Motorola’s Switch UI slathered over the top, the Fire XT features a 3.5-inch, “extra bright” touchscreen and allows users to switch between work and social modes.
It’s also home to a rear-mounted five-megapixel camera with autofocus and flash as well as a secondary front-facing VGA snapper for video calling and microSD card support to allow you boost storage space by up to 32GB.

Somewhat disappointingly, however, the phone is powered by a relatively meagre 800MHz processor – so might be best avoided if you’re in the market for a super speedy Android kit.
Fei Lui, Senior Vice President of Mass Market Consumer Products at Motorola Mobility, said: “Smartphones have become integral, personal parts of users’ lives – that’s why Motorola believes they should be fun, fashionable and feature-packed
“Motorola XT531 is an affordable device that gives young, fast-moving users everything they want from a top-quality smartphone.”
Moto expects the handset to ship some time during autumn.
