Motorola has showcased a new mid-range smartie packing the latest version of Google’s Android operating system for what ought to be a wallet-friendly price.
Powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread with Motorola’s Switch UI slathered over the top, the Fire XT features a 3.5-inch, “extra bright” touchscreen and allows users to switch between work and social modes.
It’s also home to a rear-mounted five-megapixel camera with autofocus and flash as well as a secondary front-facing VGA snapper for video calling and microSD card support to allow you boost storage space by up to 32GB.
Somewhat disappointingly, however, the phone is powered by a relatively meagre 800MHz processor – so might be best avoided if you’re in the market for a super speedy Android kit.

Moto expects the handset to ship some time during autumn.
