The third-ever Google-branded Android phone has been all-but confirmed for a release soon, swelling the ever-increasing ranks of handsets competing for your smartphone buck in the next few months.

The imminent arrival of the phone was seemingly rubber-stamped by a User Agent Profile posted on Samsung’s website under the none-too-cryptic label “nexusprime.xml”.

Google’s decision to enlist Google Nexus S-maker Samsung on manufacturing detail for a second time follows the massive success of Sammy’s recent, rather ace Galaxy branded kits, which in the eyes of many tech watchers have seen the company supersede one-time favourite HTC as the go-to brand for Android.

The profile document, which was picked up on the eagle-eyed chaps at PocketNow, yields very little about what to expect from the Prime’s spec sheet, revealing pretty much only that it could pack a screen with a somewhat meh 480 x 800 WVGA resolution.

However, if earlier leaks are anything to go by, we’re in for a handset running Android Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box and a 1.5GHz processor. Previous speculation also suggested that it'll pack a none-more-Samsung, capacious 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display – casting doubt on the low-res display that the latest leak proffers.

Will they promote it properly this time, tho'? Also what unworkable contract model will they use?
