The Google Nexus Prime, aka the Samsung GT-I9250, is surely now just a matter of weeks away, evidence suggests, as the search giant gears up for its third tilt at a smartphone.

According to Slash Gear, the kit that’s shaping up to be year’s second-most sought-after smartphone has been granted Bluetooth certification – a rubber-stamping exercise that usually means a phone’s launch is imminent.

Quite what to expect from the handset isn’t yet certain. But we do know that manufacturing detail has been assumed by Samsung, whom also made-up the Nexus S on Google’s behalf.

Also a sure thing is that the Nexus Prime will debut the all-new Ice Cream Sandwich iteration of the Android operating system, which blends facets of the tablet-optimised Honeycomb version of the OS with the current Gingerbread smartphone edition.

Specs are largely anyone’s guess right now. However, if rumours are to believed it’ll rock a vast 4.65-inch display, a 1.5GHz dual core processor, 1GB of RAM and a revamped five-megapixel snapper with HD recording skills.
