HTC’s Runnymede Android contender has been rebadged as the Bass and will feature sonic smarts courtesy of Hip-Hop production auteur and poh-lice botherer Dr Dre, a product listing suggests.
The handset has today landed on Handtec. And if the online retailer's info is to be believed, HTC has opted for a last-minute name change. Quite sensible too, we think.
Not least because it reflects the fact that it’s now coming equipped with Beats audio processing. That means it’ll offer a rich, full sonic experience with a sound profile custom-designed by Dre himself.

You’ll also get free Beats headphones in the box, which very definitely aren’t to be sneezed at given that they’d ordinarily set you back at least £80.
Elsewhere, the Bass is broadly in line with other top-end Android kits released this year, with a spec sheet that takes in version 2.3 of Gingerbread out of the box, an eight megapixel camera, a front-facing secondary snapper for video calls and a 4.7-inch screen.
