Motorola EX225 Facebook Phone

Motorola looks set to join the ranks of INQ, HTC and Vodafone as the fourth smartphone maker to bring out a so-called Facebook phone.

Dubbed simply the EX225, the handset, uncovered by Bluetooth SIG, will feature a dedicated Facebook button much like the HTC ChaCha and Vodafone’s 555 Blue.

Surprisingly enough, though, it doesn’t appear that Moto’s effort runs Android, but rather Qualcomm’s Brew platform, which is, geared more towards handsets with lower-end specs for emerging markets.

Standout features include a 2.4-inch TFT display, a three-megapixel camera, a QWERTY keyboard and GSM/GPRS/Edge/3G internet connectivity. No mention of Wi-Fi, but Bluetooth is dead cert to be on board.

There also appears to a second model, the EX226, with dual SIM card support, which is a very sought-after feature in Asia.

Geographic availability states the handset will come to pretty much all the major territories, including Europe. Motorola previously released another Brew powered handset, the Wilder, in Blighty earlier this year. This gives us hope we’ll get the EX225 too.

Stay tuned as we find out more about Moto’s new phone in the weeks to come.
