Confusion surrounds LG’s update plans for its flagship Android phone, the LG Optimus 2X, amid conflicting messages coming out of the South Korean phone-maker.
Last week, owners of the dual-core processor-toting kit were left disappointed and not a little bit irate after LG announced via its official Facebook page that it had no intention of bringing the new Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) version of Android to their phone.
The news was especially galling given that the handset is a matter of months old. And with a powerful chipset on board, has more than enough processing muscle to support an upgrade to the latest version of Google’s OS.

However, things are looking a little bit sunnier for 2X users today. LG has since reportedly got in touch with the good burghers of Android and Me to say that it has in fact yet to make a hard and fast decision on whether it will port ICS across to its smartie.
The reason for LG’s prevarication isn’t yet known. But if they don’t do the decent thing, we think owners have every reason to feel annoyed.
Especially so in months to come when they look on at mates who own the Samsung Galaxy S2 and 2011 Sony Ericsson Xperia phones, all of whom have been reassured by the manufacturers that they’ll be getting a nifty ICS OS bump as soon as possible.
