It might come as a shocker but not all iPhone owners are as blindly devoted to the iBrand as many of us would like to think. At least if a latest study is anything to go by.

According to a survey conducted by online mobile vendor GoodMobilePhones, which quizzed 1,694 iPhone owners in Britain aged 18 and over on their feelings about Apple’s smartphone, one in five revealed they ‘regret’ buying one.

43 per cent went on to admit they suffered from ‘smartphone envy’, no doubt due in part to the tasty treats of Android and its adorable green mascot. More staggeringly, 73 per cent of the jealous smartfans were male. With Android phones becoming increasingly larger and masculine in design, we can hardly blame them.

A quarter of the respondents also complained about the battery life on iPhones as the reason for their displeasure. Eight per cent said they do not enjoy the email experience, while five per cent were unhappy with the handset’s overall functionality.

Mark Owen, founder of GoodMobilePhones, said: “Smartphone envy is something that many phone owners experience, but few will admit to, because everybody wants to believe that they own the ‘best’ phone on the market. I was really surprised that so many people admitted to regretting their iPhone purchase, because they are regarded by many as the best phones available.

“Mobile phones are becoming more and more expensive as technology advances, and the majority of newer smartphones are only available on lengthy contracts, which can last for as long as two years. My advice would be to research the latest phones, or try and find a way to test out the handset to see if it is the ‘right’ device for your needs, before committing to buying.”

As much as I hate to say it I regret buying an Android phone (galaxy S2). iPhone doesnt have all the functionality the S2 has but it looks a 10x better and doesn't feel like a cheap plastic toy. I just think iphone has a lot of catching up to do on the software side. But hardware wise it's still the best out there.

I've owned every iPhone since the 3GS and I don't know why I bought the 4S simply because of all the pomp in the media, now I am never going to again.

The iPhone is a great device. Not sure how the research was carried out or how it was weighted. The camera on the new iPhone 4s is amazing.

As much as the iPhone is a decent phone, it's nothing special now and having owned it for a few years now I realised how restricted it actually is. It's also only had bad press recently.
