Samsung has registered the name ‘Samsung Galaxy Sleek’ as a trademark, hinting at a new range of Android gadgets with ultra-trim dimensions due for next year.

Filed on November 23rd, the application covers a future line of “telephones, smart phones, mobile phones and tablet computers”, according to Fusible.com.

The filing raises the possibility that the third Galaxy S-branded phone will be a super slim handset, tinier even that the current-gen Galaxy S2, which measures just 8.7mm at its thinnest point.

Assuming that’s so, it’s likely that contrary to reports, the S3 will not be among the ranks of quad-core processor-toting phones expected next year – solely because that kind of brawn would require a larger, bulkier form factor.

Details of the S3 remain thin on the ground right now. However, speculation is abroad that Samsung could opt for a new flexible OLED display this time around, potentially allowing the gadget-maker a bit of wiggle room to make way for the Exynos 4412 processor that some have earmarked for it.
