O2 is offering customers discounts on pay as you go BlackBerrys and Android phones with a just-launched Facebook promotion.

To mark the countdown to Christmas, the network is asking customers which phone they’d most want to bag for a cheaper price from a selection that takes in the BlackBerry Curve 9360, HTC Wildfire S, the Samsung Galaxy Ace, Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro, Nokia E5 and Alcatel OT-990.

The handset that gets the most votes/likes on O2’s Facebook page before December 8th will be discounted for customers who buy it online the next day.

O2’s PAYG promo is one of many launched by carriers in the run-up to the winter festivus.

Virgin Media is currently slicing the price of some of its pay as you go kits for its existing subscriber base of broadband customers.

Not surprisingly Orange is also on board. Buy any pay as you go handset priced £30 or more from the carrier now and you’ll get a free gift box containing Angle & Curve headphones worth £60, an adapter jack and a code for six free games or apps.
