In keeping with its inveterate digs at Apple, Samsung has dealt another low blow to the Cupertino-based giant, this time focussing on its ongoing legal tug-of-war over the alleged copying of each other’s products.

In a newspaper ad in Australia, where Apple temporarily had the Galaxy Tab 10.1 banned from sale for ‘slavishly’ ripping off the iPad before it was lifted in court, Samsung is promoting its slate with the tagline: “The tablet Apple tried to stop. It’s time to Tab.”

This is of course not the first time the Korean electronics maker has taken a swipe at Apple, with its recent TV spot stateside tearing apart the iPhone 4S for looking a bit last-gen and lacking some of the bells and whistles the Galaxy S2 boasts.

While competitive banter is nothing new in the tech world and is welcome for the pure entertainment factor alone, this latest insult will doubtless push Apple’s lawyers to a boiling point, as the two companies continue to drag each other to court in what’s bound a very tense, not to mention expensive, process.

Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald, Tyler McGee, vice president of Samsung Australia, said: "At the end of the day the media awareness certainly made the Galaxy Tab 10.1 a household name compared to probably what it would've been based on the investment that we would've put into it from a marketing perspective.”

Apple is hardly a poster boy for restraint in its advertising, running TV spots such as the ‘If you don’t have an iPhone’ campaign that many consider borderline offensive. However, Sammy’s efforts aren’t helping matters much either, as tech fans grow frustrated over the two companies’ legal squabbles.
