Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) is now available to download for the HTC Desire S on T-Mobile, some three months after it first landed on unbranded models bought sans contract.

The over-the-air download includes a refreshed take on HTC’s Sense 3.0 user interface, with improvements that take in swizzy updates in the notification panel and a new screen lock option.

Users can also look reportedly forward to performance optimisations for an all-round smoother smartphone experience, an improved Gmail app and some welcome bug fixes.

The reason for the delay to the update on T-Mobile, which landed on most carriers shortly after it was made available for unbranded kits back in November last year, isn’t yet clear.

We certainly can’t see why T-Mobile would require months more testing time to ensure the updated OS works with its services. But we're happy to be enlightened.
