Android Ice Cream Sandwich

Samsung has confirmed that the latest Ice Cream Sandwich iteration of Android will be rolled out to the Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy Note by the end of this quarter.

Although the phone-maker had already announced a Q1 release timeframe for the upgrade, it has since been silent as to its status, raising concerns that the update may miss its due date.

However, assurance arrived today when Sammy’s Norwegian division revealed via its official Facebook page that the OS refresh is still on course.

“Samsung plans to launch Android Ice Cream Sandwich to the Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note at the end of the first quarter of this year. When more info comes we will add it here on our Facebook page,” the post stated.

Ice Cream Sandwich brings a revamped user interface to the platform, along with an array of new and enhanced features such as multitasking similar to Android Honeycomb, greater customisability of widgets, updated versions of apps and a face detection enabled screen unlock mechanism.
