Samsung Galaxy Note owners can look forward to an enhanced virtual keyboard and sundry other sweeteners with a firmware update, Sammy has confirmed.

Available now to download over-the-air across Europe for users who bought an unlocked unit sans contract, the upgrade allows owners to position their keyboard at the right of the screen so that’s it’s easy to input text with one thumb.

Keen-eyed users will also notice the addition of a new row on the keyboard set aside solely for numbers.

Other improvements take in a slightly different screen unlock and a Samsung torch application that lets you use the screen to lighten your darkness.

Sounds good, eh? Well, just you hold your horses. If you bought your Galaxy Note on contract, you’re going to have to wait until your network tests the update to ensure it works with their bloatware. And, as bitter, bitter experience tells us, that could be months yet…
