Samsung has officially confirmed that the latest, tastiest Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) update for the Galaxy S2 will be rolled out in the UK starting next Monday.

The hotly awaited OS refresh is currently being rolled out in a number of countries, including Poland, Hungary, Sweden and South Korea.

Fortunately, those of us in the UK won’t have to wait much longer as Samsung has announced ICS will be landing in our shores imminently.

“Samsung UK can confirm that the roll out of Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) on Galaxy S II will be available from week commencing 19th March, however the availability of software upgrades in the UK will be dependent upon each network’s own software approvals process.”

By all indications, the March 19th rollout applies to unlocked versions of the handset. Those bought on contract are likely to face a wait of several weeks, as networks tend to take their sweet time when testing new software for compatibility.

In any case, at least you know it’s coming. And in case you're wondering when ICS will land on devices other than the Galaxy S2, you can find out in our updates round-up.
