Samsung Galaxy S2 owners on Vodafone will be pleased to know the network is working hard and fast to push out the latest Android Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) update for UK customers.

The network revealed to CNET that an upgrade to Android 4.0 “is currently under test to make sure that we provide the highest level of final software”.

"As soon as the tests are completed we will upload the software to the update servers as quickly as possible," the Big V assured us.

Alas, it did not reveal a firm release date for the hotly awaited upgrade, which has now been confirmed for all the major UK networks.

Three customers can grab ICS right now via the Samsung’s Kies PC software. O2 will begin its rollout later this month and Orange in April. T-Mobile has announced it is working around the clock to bring the full two scoops to users as soon as possible.

Improvements Google’s latest OS brings to the table include UI and performance optimisations, a faster web browser, updated versions of native apps and longer battery life.

Also onboard is Face Unlock, which is a cool, if novel, security mechanism that uses face detection technology to grant access exclusively to the handset’s owner.

Wondering when Ice Cream Sandwich will grace another device? Head over to our updates round-up for all the gen.
