Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S white press shot

Sony has confirmed that the latest Android Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) update is currently rolling out in select European countries.

Owners of the Xperia Arc S, Xperia neo V and Xperia ray can grab the tasty OS upgrade right now, so long as they live in Scandanavia nations: namely Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Finland and Norway.

It’s unclear why the UK has been left out of the party, despite being a major Sony territory. Our guess is the phone-maker wants to iron out any kinks before it eventually lands in our shores. According to the peeps over at The Inquirer, this will reportedly take “four to six weeks” to happen.

Features ICS brings to the platform include Face Unlock, which does what it says on the tin, Android Beam for NFC-supported kits, enhanced multitasking and a new web browser.

Keep ‘em peeled as we find out more about the update’s UK rollout in the weeks ahead.
