The much-rumoured, lesser-spotted Facebook-branded phone is still a going concern and will be here next year, reports suggest.
The so-called 'Facebook phone' has been a tech-site trope for aeons now. But rumours of its existence have gone pretty quiet of late.
Until today, that is.
According to Bloomberg, the social networking giant is still working with HTC to create a smartphone and is worked on a ‘modified operating system’ – which we’re guessing means they’re going to skin Android with their own UI.
However, contrary to earlier reports, the handset won’t be appearing this year, but will debut in mid-2013, after it was delayed to allow HTC to work on other products.
News of Facebook’s plans come after it worked closely with HTC on the HTC Salsa and Cha Cha, both of which were billed as ‘Facebook phones and featured dedicated buttons for accessing the service.
