Samsung has officially lifted the lid on the QWERTY keyboard-toting Galaxy Chat, as it bids to breathe new life into somewhat superannuated text and type smartphones.
Aimed at social networking-fixated teens who crave a physical keyboard for tapping out updates and instant messaging their mates on the Samsung Chat on service to organise insurrections, the Chat runs Android Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android out of the box and packs a three-inch touchscreen.
Elsewhere, the spec sheet reads pretty much exactly as you’d expect for a mid-range phone of this sort and takes in a two megapixel camera, an 850MHz` processor and a pretty threadbare 4GB of internal memory. Add a microSD card , though, and you can boost this by up to 32GB.
Sammy is set to debut the Chat in Spain in July, with a wider European release to follow shortly after. Pricing has yet to be confirmed, but expect to pick it free from about £25 per month.
