Samsung Galaxy S2 owners will be waiting weeks and weeks to get a taste of the Jelly Bean version of Android, it has emerged.

Alas, as ever, this tentative due date for the rollout, which was brought to us care of Sammy Hub, is likely to apply solely to Galaxy S2 units bought SIM-free and off-contract.

Those of you who purchased the S2 from a carrier on a pay-monthly deal will have to wait while your network carries out tests and ensures that Jelly Bean plays nice with its proprietary services. Alas, experience tells us this could add months to the time you’ll be kicking your heels in the Android update waiting room.

Features the OS reswizzle brings to Android phones include an all-new notifications bar and Google Now, which takes on the iPhone’s voice-activated Siri app in the digital-personal-assistant stakes.
