The smaller, cheaper and younger sibling of Samsung’s best-selling Galaxy S3 is finally out, hitting shop shelves in Blighty just in time for the Christmas salesplosion.

Three has confirmed it will offer the S3 Mini free on contract from £28 a month on a two-year term, which entitles you to 500 minutes, 5,000 texts and all-you-can-eat data. If you hate commitment, however, you can also bag it on pay as you go from £269.99 for a minimum £10 top-up.

Featuring near identical aesthetics as its bigger brother, the S3 Mini is home to a less advanced but still impressive set of specs for what you’re paying. Highlights include a four-inch AMOLED display, a 1GHz dual-core processor, a five-megapixel snapper and between eight and 16GB of on board storage depending on the model you pick (expandable via microSD slot).

Elsewhere, there is NFC support, the latest Android Jelly Bean iteration installed out of the box and numerous software features available only with Samsung devices, such as the Siri-rivalling S-Voice and the SmartStay sleep mode function that keeps your device awake while watching a movie and whathaveyou.
