Facebook has just launched a new version of its official iOS app, adding new features and enhancements to make it even easier to stay in touch with your nearest and dearest.

Available now, the update (version 5.4) brings built-in video recording, enabling you to capture and share those unmissable moments without needing a separate upload solution.

Voice messaging, which was previously exclusive to Facebook’s standalone Messenger app, is also on board and lets you attach audio recordings to messages up to 60 seconds long.

Alas, the VoIP voice-calling feature that recently debuted on the Messenger app in Canada and Stateside didn’t make the cut, but hopefully will once it’s graduated from trial status for a global rollout.

Elsewhere, the update improves the Nearby page that now looks a lot similar to what you might have seen on Foursquare, displaying local places of interest on a map and a list on the same screen.

That’s about everything new, though might be some bug fixes and performance tweaks too to keep things running lickety-split. If you notice anything of the sort, do let us know in the comments section below.

Download the updated Facebook app now at the App Store.
