Samsung has revealed it will not be holding a press conference at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, quashing any remaining possibility that it would unveil the Galaxy S4 there.

Citing people "familiar with the matter", Pocket-Lint reports that the S-giant will skip the usual extravaganza at the world’s largest trade show, limiting its presence to just the show floor to demonstrate non-flagship additions to its smartphone and tablet lines, including the freshly unveiled Galaxy Express and the much-rumoured, but as-yet unofficial Galaxy Tab 3.

Also likely to be showcased is a new eight-inch Galaxy Note tablet, as Samsung tries to leverage the phenomenal success of its ‘phablet’ range.

No MWC keynote means Samsung is bound to announce the Galaxy S4 at a separate Unpacked event like it did for the Galaxy S3 last May.

Rumours suggest this could take place as early as March 22nd, with a worldwide launch mooted in mid-April. So it won’t be a long wait for smartfans eagerly anticipating the handset’s unveiling.

Keep ‘em peeled for more Galaxy S4 news and rumours in the weeks to come.
