BlackBerry is working on ways to bring the text-input shortcuts it offers on phones with physical keyboards across to those equipped with touchscreens, a report from our sister site reveals.

In an interview with Omio’s Rob Kerr, who has been on location at the BlackBerryLive press event, the company’s Veep of User Experience Don Lindsay said that the projects currently in progress include a way to allow users to scroll through lists faster.

He explained: ”With our physical keyboards, we have ‘T’, which is a keyboard shortcut for the top, and ‘B’ for bottom.

“The team is now looking at, is there an equivalent to the command to go to the top of the list.”

Lindsay also revealed that the devs are considering ways to replicate the Q10’s shortcuts that allow users to forward an email by pressing the ‘F’ key and reply by hitting ‘R’.

Although he didn’t disclose how these might be ported across to touchscreen BlackBerry keyboards, Lindsay intimated that two-handed gestures are a possibility.

While hiding out in Florida with his Cuban gangster pals, our man Rob also took the time to get hands-on with the BlackBerry Z10, complete with the newest 10.1 version of BlackBerry’s operating system.

Check out his take on the handset here.
