Owners of high-end Samsung kits could grab themselves a free copy of Jay-Z’s forthcoming, ahem, ‘joint’ ahead of its release, as part of a promotional, double ahem, collab between the two commercial giants.
Under the terms of the giveaway, Samsung Galaxy S4, S3 and Note 2 users must download Jay-Z’s Magna Carta app, which lands in the Google Play store from June 24th. The first million to do so qualify for a totally gratis download of of Magna Carta Holy Trail joint three days ahead of its official street date on July 4th.
As you might expect, the application features snippets of the, triple ahem, hottest jams from the record, as well as plenty of ‘making-of’ chatter to let you in the Jigga’s creative process.
The attention-grabbing hook-up with Jay-Z, news of which first surfaced on a clip that aired during last night’s NBA Finals, underscores once again how Samsung’s massive marketing muscle has helped it outperform the comparatively underfunded HTC and Sony.
However, that’s not stopped the phone undershooting analysts’ sales expectations by as much as a quarter, prompting a $20 billion drop in the handset-maker’s market value.
