HTC has already scored a critical hit with its One smartphone this year. And with the One Mini round the corner, it should come as no surprise that it’s also readying a version called the HTC One Max.

As its name suggests, this is very much a phablet. It will apparently come with a huge six–inch screen, which will be able to serve up 1080p HD pictures.

That will put it right up against Samsung’s forthcoming Galaxy Note 3 and Sony’s new Xperia Z Ultra.

What’s more, it’ll feature a lightning fast quad–core processor, with storage reaching a more than ample 64GB.

Word is the HTC One Max will be revealed in September, setting it on a collision course with the aforementioned Galaxy Note 3, which is being primed by Samsung for a launch at Berlin’s IFA gadget show.

HTC will be hoping that the One Max can give the Galaxy Note 3 a scare, after the One failed to match the Galaxy S4’s commercial success, despite being lauded for its design and usability.
